The Adventures of Penny Farthing follows the adventures of a little girl called Penny who suddenly finds that she can understand what the bees and animals are saying. This happened after she was badly stung by a bee.
Penny Makes New Friends
In the first story she makes friends with Poppy, the dog who lives next door, and with the animals who live in the nearby woods.
Lost and Found
In the second story Penny makes friends with Thabo, a little black boy who is the owner of Poppy the dog.
Poppy Goes Overboard
In the third story Penny steers the boat back to harbour with the help of a clever seagull.
Because the animals talk the reader can enjoy seeing events from their point view. The different characters of the animals gives scope for subtle humour which adults can enjoy as well. It is a book filled with the happy days of childhood and is suitable for children of ages five to ten.
